Cellist Heather Smith performs regularly as a chamber and orchestral musician. Prior to moving to Utah, she played with orchestras in the southern United States, including the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera (TN), the Alabama Symphony, the Greenville Symphony (SC). She has performed on numerous chamber programs at the University of Tennessee Chattanooga, Lee University, and Covenant College, as well as with the Intersection Contemporary Music Ensemble in Nashville, TN. She recently performed a cello and piano duo recital in Tennessee, South Carolina, and Taipei, Taiwan, along with her husband, Cahill Smith, who is on the piano faculty at Utah State University. Heather’s teaching experience includes a private studio in Tennessee, masterclasses in the US and Taiwan, and leading the chamber music workshop at Lee University International Piano Festival & Competition. She is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, where she studied with David Ying of the Ying Quartet.
