DMA, Collaborative Piano, Florida State University
Detroit native, Sara Chiesa, has coached and performed throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, and has worked at both l’Opéra de Montréal and Michigan Opera Theatre as a Guest Artist Coach for their Resident Artists.
Dr. Chiesa spent the last two summers working with Utah Festival Opera and Musical Theatre as the Principal Coach/Pianist and Chorus Master for Il barbiere di Siviglia, The Secret Garden, and The Pirates of Penzance.
In the 2017-2018 season, she was Principal Coach/Pianist for North Carolina Opera's Rigoletto, Syracuse Opera's Carmen, Boheme Opera New Jersey’s Pagliacci and Cavalleria Rusticana, and First Coast Opera’s Pagliacci and The Stranger’s Tale. Highlights from the 2016-2017 season include her role as Assistant Conductor/Principal Coach for Amahl and the Night Visitors at l’Opéra de Montréal, Our Town at Fresno Grand Opera, Eugene Onegin at Syracuse Opera, and Side by Side by Sondheim with Resonance Works in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Chiesa has also worked with Arizona Opera, Chicago Summer Opera, Hubbard Hall Opera Theatre, New Opera Singapore, Opera Saratoga, Skidmore College, Townsend Opera, Virginia Opera, V.O.I.C.Experience, the Interlochen Arts Academy, the Prague International Piano Masterclasses, and the Festival dei due mondi in Spoleto, Italy. She holds a collaborative piano degree from Florida State University (D.M.A.) as well as two piano performance degrees from Bowling Green State University (M.M.) and Oakland University (B.M.).
