Jennifer M. Birchell is a Nationally Board Certified Music Therapist through the Certification Board of Music Therapy and a professional member of the American Music Therapy Association. Jennifer graduated from USU in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Music Therapy and interned with the Forbes Medical System in Pittsburgh PA. After returning from Pittsburgh, Jennifer began working for the Sunshine Terrace Foundation in Logan, UT as a part-time music therapist, soon growing the position into a full-time program- adding a National Roster Music Therapy Internship in 1999 and offering USU Music Therapy Field Practicum site experience as well. Jennifer has continued her education by certifying in Neurologic Music Therapy- specializing in techniques of neurologic and physical rehabilitation, which she incorporates into her daily work with the patients of the Sunshine Terrace Rehabilitation Center. She is also certified in Hospice and Palliative Care Music Therapy and holds dual licensure in Recreation Therapy for the State of Utah. Jennifer regularly guest lectures for many groups including the Davis Applied Technology Center Nursing Classes, Alzheimer’s Support groups in Cache and Box Elder Counties, Parkinson’s Support Group, Care Giver’s Support groups, and wellness courses at the Logan and Brigham City Senior Centers. She is married and lives on a small farm with her husband and one daughter.
