    Aggie Marching Band

     

    AGGIE MARCHING BAND

     

    MUSC 3785 (DHA) - 1 cr. - Fall Semesters

    Directed by: Dr. Lane Weaver

    Open to: All USU students, undergraduate to graduate

    Audition info: Generally no audition required for membership. Placement auditions are held as needed including those for Drumline. AMB members are required to attend Marching Band Camp before classes start in August.

    Overview: The Aggie Marching Band performs at all home football games and select away games with post-season bowl games appearances in Las Vegas, San Diego, Albuquerque, and Boise. The Band has also appeared in the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Dublin, Ireland. The AMB serves as a centerpiece for Aggie athletic spirit and excellence in musical performance. Scholarships and stipends are available.

    USU Basketball

     

    AGGIE PEP BAND/BASKETBALL BAND

     

    MUSC 2730 - 1 cr. - Spring Semesters

    Directed by: Dr. Lane Weaver

    Open to: All USU students, undergraduate to graduate

    Audition info: Auditions occur in early October with placement priority given to Aggie Marching Band members. Contact Dr. Weaver for details.

    Overview: The high-energy Aggie Pep Band performs at home games for both Men’s and Women’s Basketball and helps make the Spectrum on of the toughest venues in the Mountain West Conference. Each spring the Aggie Pep Band hits the road to play at the conference tournament in Las Vegas and joins the Aggies for the NCAA tournament or other post-season events. All members receive a stipend for their service.

    SYMPHONIC BAND

     

    MUSC 3790 (DHA) - 1 cr. - Fall & Spring Semesters

    Directed by: Dr. Thomas Rohrer

    Open to: All full-time USU students, undergraduate to graduate

    Audition info: No audition required.  The only audition is for chair placement.

    Overview: The Symphonic Band is a 70-member ensemble made up of students who enjoy music-making in a large band setting.  The Fall Symphonic Band performs one concert at the end of the semester, while the Spring Symphonic Band performs two concerts. The membership of the Symphonic Band represents USU's finest students from all disciplines on campus who enjoy continuing their band experience while pursuing the degree program of their choice.

    USU Wind Orchestra

     

    WIND ORCHESTRA

     

    MUSC 4700 (DHA) - 1 cr. - Spring Semesters

    Directed by: Dr. Thomas Rohrer

    Open to: All full-time USU students, undergraduate to graduate

    Audition info: Audition is required; contact director for information.

    Overview:  The Wind Orchestra, the "flagship ensemble" of the USU Bands, is a 45-member ensemble of the finest wind and percussion players in the school.  It plays the finest in contemporary wind music as well as time-tested standards from the band repertoire.  The Wind Orchestra performs three concerts each semester, and entrance is gained to the ensemble by audition at the outset of each semester.  The ensemble has performed at the Utah Music Educators Convention and the College Band Directors National Association Western Division Conference.

    ALUMNI BAND

     

    Summer Semesters

    Directed by: Dr. Nicholas Morrison

    Open to: All alumni of Utah State University, by audition or invitation. Contact Dr. Morrison for information.

    Overview:  Founded in 1963 by Dr. Max F. Dalby, the USU Summer Alumni Concert Band has performed on campus each summer for the last 50+ years, presenting a series of five concerts that celebrate Logan’s beautiful summers and the accomplishments of the university and Aggie alumni.
