Natalie Burningham grew up in Cache Valley but moved to Colorado soon after graduating from USU with a degree in secondary education. She received her second bachelor’s degree in music therapy from Colorado State University in 2009 with a certification in neurologic music therapy. She interned at Exempla Colorado Lutheran Home and Fisher Early Learning Center in 2010. At ECLH, Natalie lead groups and saw individuals with diagnosis such as CVA, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and depression and created a drum circle program and trained individuals to help with it. During the program Natalie conducted research on the effectiveness of the drum circle on residents. She also presented on drum circles for the elderly population at the National Eden Alternative conference. At Fisher Natalie worked with pre-school aged children with diagnosis such as Down’s Syndrome, CP and Autism in group and individual settings and brought music therapy into the mainstream classrooms.

Natalie received her board certification in 2010 and began her own private practice called Health Beat Music Therapy. Through her business she has worked with nursing homes, assisted living centers, children’s music education groups, community groups and individuals. Natalie moved to Utah in 2014 and continues to practice in Cache Valley. She is a member of the Utah Association of Music Therapists and the Cache Valley Music Therapy Delegates.

Natalie’s passion is promoting wellness through music as well as teaching. Through her business she seeks contract work with the Elderly, young adults and children with a wide range of diagnosis. Natalie is also certified in the Let’s Play Music program and runs children’s music education groups out of her home.  She is also excited for the opportunity to mentor music therapy students and educate the public about the benefits of music therapy, specifically neurologic music therapy.

Music therapy has always been a side job however. As her main job, Natalie mothers her two adorable children and dotes over her adoring husband. In the free time she has left, she enjoys the outdoors, exercising, DIY projects and nutrition.
