    Aggie Marching Band

     

    AGGIE MARCHING BAND

     

    MUSC 3785 (DHA) - 1 cr. - Fall Semesters

    Directed by: Dr. Lane Weaver

    Open to: All full-time USU students, undergraduate to graduate

    Audition info: No audition required, but you must attend Fundamentals Week the week before classes begin each Fall Semester.  See Marching Band Scholarship information.

    Overview:  The Aggie Marching Band performs at all home football games and has traveled to away games in Tempe, Arizona, Boulder, Colorado, and New Mexico State University as well as appeared at the Idaho Potato and Humanitarian Bowls in Boise, Idaho and the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Ireland. The Band serves as a centerpiece for athletic spirit as well as a showcase of the finest in music performance.

    Overview:  The Pep Band (also called the Basketball Band) performs at all home basketball games.

    SYMPHONIC BAND

     

    MUSC 3790 (DHA) - 1 cr. - Fall & Spring Semesters

    Directed by: Dr. Thomas Rohrer

    Open to: All full-time USU students, undergraduate to graduate

    Audition info: No audition required.  The only audition is for chair placement.

    Overview: The Symphonic Band is a 70-member ensemble made up of students who enjoy music-making in a large band setting.  The Fall Symphonic Band performs one concert at the end of the semester, while the Spring Symphonic Band performs two concerts. The membership of the Symphonic Band represents USU's finest students from all disciplines on campus who enjoy continuing their band experience while pursuing the degree program of their choice.

    WIND ORCHESTRA

     

    MUSC 4700 (DHA) - 1 cr. - Spring Semesters

    Audition info: Audition is required; contact director for information.

    Overview:  The Wind Orchestra, the "flagship ensemble" of the USU Bands, is a 45-member ensemble of the finest wind and percussion players in the school.  It plays the finest in contemporary wind music as well as time-tested standards from the band repertoire.  The Wind Orchestra performs three concerts each semester, and entrance is gained to the ensemble by audition at the outset of each semester.  The ensemble has performed at the Utah Music Educators Convention and the College Band Directors National Association Western Division Conference.

    ALUMNI BAND

     

    Summer Semesters

    Directed by: Dr. Nicholas Morrison

    Open to: All alumni of Utah State University, by audition or invitation. Contact Dr. Morrison for information.

    Overview:  Founded in 1963 by Dr. Max F. Dalby, the USU Summer Alumni Concert Band has performed on campus each summer for the last 50+ years, presenting a series of five concerts that celebrate Logan’s beautiful summers and the accomplishments of the university and Aggie alumni.
